These students have all contributed in unique ways to the FEMA grant project this summer. Everyone works very hard, but has a lot of fun along the way. Working with such a talented group of individuals is one of the reasons that this project has been so successful.
News Coverage
We’re famous! Three different news stations, News 9, KOCO News 5, and FOX 25, came to the studio this week to cover stories about our FEMA grant project. Check out the videos below.
Building the Set
For the set, our team built a house that can move and serve multiple purposes within our Studio D. It took about three weeks to build and decorate it to resemble an actual home. This is a really cool time lapse of the process.
It All Moves at Once...
The introduction scene called for all hands on deck. The video required numerous pieces of furniture to move at once; therefore everyone was on the floor or up on ladders. It was fun to show the process of going through your home looking for mitigation issues in such a dynamic way.
The Sky is Falling!
Introducing how to arrange things on shelves required a difficult to set up. It took several hours to assemble everything, but we were able to get it right in the first take! It’s important to understand how to organize storage shelves safely in order to prevent harm during an earthquake.
By the Way… Where Do I Shut Off the Water?
Do you know where the water shutoff is in your house? We discovered that many people don’t. Nor do they know how to turn off the gas if the line breaks in an earthquake. The video stresses the need to communicate why locating your shutoffs now is so important.
First Shoot
Today was a very exciting first day of shooting on our new set. We dealt with finding studs. While most websites do a great job of explaining the need to identify studs, we found many people don’t know how to locate them. Also, the team has already started bonding with Mike Fleming, the talent for our video series.
